Food for Diabetics

Some friends will be coming over for a simple dinner. One of them is diabetic. Any advice on what I should prepare? Any do's and dont's?

Before I answer, do you plan on having a theme so to speak?

RE: Food for Diabetics

I read your post again and saw that you mentioned that it is going to be a simple dinner. Well you don't have to make all the food for your diabetic guest. Just make sure your guest has some other options.

Having a guest that is diabetic means that you should serve something that well at least meet his or her dietary restrictions. Remember that a person with diabetes must keep their sugar and carbohydrate intake in control. A diabetic must also watch out and make sure to keep fats and sodium to a minimum.

Thanks for that. But do you have anything specific? Don't get me wrong but the only thing I could think of that qualifies on what you said are fruits and vegetables.

RE: Food for Diabetics

I don't want to sound "antagonistic" Therese, but let me clarify something. Diabetics eat what other people eat. Only with some minor restrictions. I'm still looking for food suggestions Chris. But let me tell you first that in your dinner, you must not overdo it. That is, prioritize one group of people over another. You wouldn't want to serve a diabetic menu to those who want to eat meat right?

That's also what I want to avoid.
